So who uses Open Source Software

Obviously those looking for no cost software or if programming is necessary keeping the cost down by using a free product. So the list includes:
  • teenagers
  • college students
  • small businesses

But also some unexpected users exist, such as:

  • Google
  • Yahoo
  • Ticketmaster
  • The city of Munich, Germany
  • and finally Canada's federal government

Up next will be why would someone go this route....

  1. Interesting....I am curious to see how Canada's federal government uses OSS? One would think, or assume that because the government has so much confidential information the programs, networks, and software used would be secured.

  3. There is a great on open source software. One nice feature of the Google open source software is the abilty to share documents, speedsheets.or power points during the creation part. It is a different experience to to refresh your page and see two additional pages have been added.
In education, you could edit on the "fly".

  4. Wow this topic appears to be way over my head but I am intrigued to learn more about it. I am sure it is probably not as complicated as I think and I look forward to reading more about it.

With a degree in Physical Education I am interested to learn how open software can be applied in an educational setting, or even a sports coaching setting.
